2010 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship
Qualifying For and Entering the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship
Due to the 2009 Show being open to all dogs: Those who qualify under any criteria will have an additional year of eligibility. These dogs will receive their invite early October of 2010.
Qualifying Dates For AKC/Eukanuba National Championship:
October 8, 2009 to October 12, 2010
October 8, 2008 to October 7, 2009 (2009 eligibility year)
October 10, 2007 to October 7, 2009 (2 year, BBE/Puppy BBE & Internationals)
Entries Close: November 3, 2010
Automatic Qualifiers
Dogs automatically qualify for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship by meeting any one of the following criteria:
- Dogs ranked in the top 25 of their breed (by breed points only) at the end of the qualifying
period (1 Year) - Dogs receiving an all - breed Best in Show at an AKC show held during the qualifying period (1Year)
- Dogs winning Best of Breed at a parent club national specialty* (1 Year)
- Dogs completing their Grand Championship during the current qualifying period ( 1 year)
- Dogs completing their championship with all points earned from the bred-by-Exhibitor Class during the current and prior Qualifying periods of October 10, 2007 to October 7, 2009 (2 Years)
- Dogs completing their championship with all points earned from the Amateur Owner Handled Class during the current and prior Qualifying periods of October 8, 2008 to October 7, 2009 (2 Years)
- The seven top breed winning dogs from over 60 International Registries and the Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed winners from Crufts (2 Years)
* In the event a parent club holds more than one national during the qualifying period, the club will designate which show will “count” as the national specialty for AKC/Eukanuba National Championship purpose.
Other Ways to Qualify
Dogs earning their championship during the qualifying period with all of their points earned as Breeder/Owner handled originating from Puppy and/or BBE class may be eligible for an invitation. All of the points do not have to be earned during the qualifying period, but the championship does. In the spirit of consistency we are offering eligibility to those dogs that obtain their championships Shown by their Amateur Owner Handler with wins from the Puppy Class and/or Amateur Owner Handled Class. This follows the same criteria as that of the Puppy/BBE qualifications:
Dogs earning their championship during the qualifying period with all of their points earned as Amateur/Owner handled originating from Puppy and/or Amateur Owner Handled class may be eligible for an invitation. All of the points do not have to be earned during the qualifying period, but the championship does. - Miscellaneous breeds who have won a CM (Certificate of Merit title) or at least three (3) Best of Breed, WITH COMPETITION
or One (1) Best in Misc. class, WITH COMPETITION may be eligible for an invitation.
This eligibility in the Miscellaneous Class is for the following breeds:
American English Coonhound
Cesky Terrier
Chinook
Entlebucher Mountain Dog
Finnish Lapphund
Norwegian Lundehund
Rat Terrier
Russell Terrier
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Xoloitzcuintli
Any breed recently accepted as a fully recognized breed will be invited as per the qualifying criteria published.

* Must be an AKC recognized breed in order to compete at the National Championship.
