2009 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship

Event Information – 125th Anniversary Show

The 2009 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship will be a historical event celebrating the 125th year of the American Kennel Club. The show will be held on December 12th & 13th, 2009 at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA. Over 260,000 square feet of space will be utilized for conformation, 30,000 square feet for Obedience, and a 60,000 square foot unique structure will host our AKC Agility Invitational. The AKC Meets the Breeds® will continue to be one of the signature events that takes place over this weekend.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

THIS SHOW WILL BE FOR ALL DOGS IN ALL AKC REGISTERED BREEDS AND FOR MISCELLANEOUS BREEDS. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS WILL BE OFFERED IN ALL BREEDS.

The show will not be limited. Closing date will be Wednesday November 11, 2009. This event will be superintended by Onofrio Dog Shows.

Entry fees are as follows:

  • For all dogs entered for Best of Breed competition: $75.00
  • For all dogs entered in any other class: $50.00

CATALOG AD’S: Due by October 16, 2009.

There will be a special online version of the Show Catalog that will include a photograph of each entry. All the show results and photographs will be archived online at www.akc.org
Plan to submit a photo of your dog for this web-catalog.
The cost of the first online photo will be $15.00. Additional photo’s at $5.00 each. Payable at the time of entry.

The actual entry forms will be available to download online and may also be obtained from a number of advertisements placed in major dog publications.

ALL SPORTING, HOUND, TOY AND NON-SPORTING BREEDS AS WELL AS JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP WILL BE JUDGED ON SATURDAY.

ALL WORKING, TERRIER AND HERDING BREEDS AS WELL AS THE MISCELLANEOUS CLASS WILL BE JUDGED ON SUNDAY.

ANY DOG THAT IS BREEDER/OWNER/HANDLED AT THIS EVENT WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE BEST BRED-BY-EXHIBITOR IN SHOW COMPETITION. THE APPROPRIATE BOX ON THE ENTRY FORM MUST BE CHECKED TO INDICATE PARTICIPATION.

All dogs that qualify for the 2009 show will have an additional year added to their eligibility. Example: all the top 25 dogs for the qualifying period from October 8th, 2008 to October 7th, 2009 will be eligible to enter for the year 2010. Same for BIS winners and national specialty winners. BBE champions, Puppy/BBE champions and international top dogs will still have a two year window of eligibility with an additional year added to their eligibility period.

The Kennel Club of Beverly Hills, The Los Encino Kennel Club and The Long Beach Kennel Club will hold their all breed dog shows in the same venue on the days preceding the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. Many clubs will be holding Specialties, Supported Entries and Sweepstakes at these events. These All Breed Shows will be superintended by Jack Bradshaw Dog Shows.
