The Land Use Committee of the City of Riverside’s City Council is scheduled to meet on Monday, May 8th.  The agenda includes the consideration of drafting laws that would ban the retail sales of pets and require breeder licensing.

As reported previously by AKC, the City is using nearby Long Beach’s ordinances as a model in drafting their proposal.  A Long Beach-style breeder ordinance could have an onerous impact on responsible dog breeding within the City of Riverside, and could likely include litter limits, primary enclosure/shelter regulations, and reporting and microchipping requirements.
