AKC Global Services® Client National General Kennel Club Visits AKC Operations Center for Training
The American Kennel Club is pleased to welcome visitors Theo Vavas and Fiona Feng from National General Kennel Club (NGKC) to the AKC Operations Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. NGKC is the first client of AKC Global Services which provides electronic registration services and dog show recording services. The pair traveled from China to receive preliminary training from the AKC. Additional NGKC staff will attend in-depth training later this month in order to register dogs and record the results of shows being held in China.
"The National General Kennel Club's values align closely with AKC's mission and we are working closely with them as they continue to grow their registry," said John Lyons, AKC's Chief Operating Officer. "We are happy to welcome to our offices Theo, Fiona and all future NGKC employees who are dedicated to the advancement of their organization."
The NGKC was initially selected as the first AKC Global Services client due to their desire to have a verified purebred registry as well as their dedication to responsible dog ownership and disease prevention.
Although the sport of purebred dogs has gained popularity in China over recent years, no single national registry or standardized set of show rules exists. The NGKC hopes to create a foundation for the growth of dog sport in China. The initial shows sanctioned by the organization will be held by the Shanghai Small Animal Protection Association (SSAPA), the Beijing Kennel Club and the Beijing Siberian Husky Club with shows in October 2008. The Beijing Chow Chow Club show is planned for November 2008.![]() |
