2009 AKC National Tracking Invitational

September 19-20, 2009 – Clermont, Kentucky

Sunday, September 20, 2009

Sunday morning, trackers were startled awake by sounds of thunder and flashes of lightening, but the early morning sounds were only a minor distraction to the tracking diehards. Judges delayed the laying of the first track by only ten minutes. As if holding true to the phenomenal Kentucky hospitality shown by all the locals, the rain and storms let up and the weather worries subsided. The excitement overshadowed the weather as everyone focused on the draw for running order. The order drawn was as follows:

1) Doreen Barren & Taz, a Border Collie
2) Mary Agnes Mackin & Obi, a Dachshund
3) Rebecca Johnson & Abby, a Golden Retriever
4) Charlotte Palermo & Flash, a Belgian Tervuren
5) Phyllis Dobbs & Orry, a German Shepherd

All ten of the dogs demonstrated their talents at problem solving various scenting obstacles and were amazing to watch work. It was a fabulous weekend full of wonderful people and dogs. We would like to thank everyone involved in making the 2009 National Tracking Invitational a huge success!
