2007 AKC National Tracking Invitational
Team Two - Mary A. Welpton

I live in Biloxi, MS with my two miniature Poodles, CT The Lucky Dog VCD2 RE MX MXJ AXP AJP NFP (Lucky) and MACH Happy-Go-Lucky UD RE OF (Happy).  Lucky was a pup, about 10 weeks old, when he showed up at the bottom of my stairs in July 1996.  Happy was adopted on December 2001 from the Mobile, AL SPCA when she was about a year old.

Lucky seemed to be real smart and quickly learned the few tricks and little obedience that I knew to teach him.  When he was about three years old, we enrolled in an Obedience class.  Soon after, we started in Agility and about a year later, we began learning to track.  Our progress in these three sports was slowed, not because of Lucky, but because of my lack of training experience.  He has opened a world of AKC competition of which I was unaware.

Lucky earned his TD title in Louisiana in 2002.  He earned his TDX title in Illinois in 2003.  The elusive VST took us a longer time, but he earned that title in Orlando, Florida in October of 2006.  Lucky loves to track and I love being his tracking partner.

We are delighted to have drawn for the AKC National Tracking Invitational.  We look forward to the experience and the challenge.

I’m a retired high school Physical Education and Health teacher.
