2007 AKC National Tracking Invitational
Team Two - Jeff Shaver

Jeff Shaver, and his wife Lew Olson, have bred, owned, shown, and trained Rottweilers for over 25 years. They have campaigned Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show and Utility Dog Level Obedience Rottweilers. Jeff started in tracking in 1999 after moving to Houston and meeting Nita Chambers, a local tracking instructor and enthusiast. The dog competing at the National Tracking Invitational "Jack" is the first dog Jeff titled to a TD level in the fall of 2002. Including Jack, his dogs have earned 7 TD's, 3 TDX's and now a VST title since that time.

Jeff attributes his dogs' success to having "smart dogs" and having an instructor, Nita Chambers, who was willing to go out any time, any where, and in whatever weather conditions to lay tracks and train his dogs.

Jeff is now a provisional TD Judge and wants to spend the "rest of his life" involved in the sport of tracking and ensuring that the sport continues to be one with integrity, honesty, and requiring a good work ethic. He believes this will ensure the survival of a sport he has grown to love in a form which will make all of its participants proud. Jeff really appreciates the opportunity to allow others to see his dog work at the Invitational.
