Team Two - Ingrid Hamburger
In l977 we were asked to dog sit a GSD until the house for friends was built. This wonderful dog was with us for 8 months before he returned to his owners. After that I felt we should have our own four legged friend. We decided on a Giant Schnauzer, a decision that never changed, it is the breed we stayed with.Having no knowledge of training a dog I joined FVDTC, started with a Puppy class through Advanced and more. My husband traveled a lot for his job and so "my life turned to the dogs" I keep saying. - Over the years my dogs earned their Obedience titles here and in Canada. Together we earned 5 AKC-CD's, 2 AKC-CDX's, and 1 AKC-UD & UDX. In Canada we had 5 CD's, 2 CDX's, 1 UD. During this time we also were tracking, bringing in 4 TD's, 2 TDX's and 1 VST & CT. We were busy doing Agility and Rally too. Every dog I trained taught me a lot and so did two wonderful teachers, one in Obedience and one in Tracking. Their lesson's and advice were priceless and having Heike to train topped it all. She was the first GS in the US to achieve the UDX title and the first and currently only GS to become a Champion Tracker.
Heike is a real working dog, always happy and ready to do more. Her accomplishments brought me here today, to the Invitational, an achievement I am really proud of.
