September 20th and 21st, 2003 - Asheville, NC
AKC Tracking Invitational Judge
Married to my husband George for 44 years, I am a retired R.N., having spent 36 years in the field of Occupational Health Nursing.
In 1963, we joined the Buckeye Beagle Club and became involved in field trial brace beagling. Thus began my interest and fascination with "scent." We have finished field champions in all four classes. For the past 12 years we have competed in the 15" bitch class and established a good producing line. Breeding on a limited and selective basis, we have several young dogs ready for competition again this year. At present, I serve as the Recording, Corresponding, Field Trial Secretary and Treasurer for the Club. I am also the AKC Delegate representing the Buckeye Beagle Club.
I have competed in the Obedience ring, obtaining titles on my dogs, including UDTX. For several years I co-owned a successful obedience school in my area. Dog training and behavior are of great interest to me.
1978 was a good year!! I observed my first tracking dog and was "hooked." That fall I began tracking and obtained my first tracking title in the spring of 1979. Since then, I have 20 plus titles on my own dogs, which have included German Shepherd Dog, Doberman Pinscher, Beagles and Border Collies. Thru tracking classes and tracking with friends, I have had the opportunity to work with many different breeds. In doing so, I have enjoyed the success and thrill of many achieving their tracking titles.
As an approved judge for TD, TDX and VST, I have judged in many states and Canada. This afforded me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people and dogs. The excitement and thrill of observing a good tracking team has never diminished! I continue to be a student of "scent work." I am a member of Buckeye Tracking Club, Ohio.
In 1999, I also served on the AKC Tracking Advisory Committee.
"I would like to thank the club for the opportunity of judging their National Specialty. I look forward to judging the test."
