2009 AKC National Obedience Invitational
Judges – Victoria "Vickie" Brown
When Victoria Brown got her first job, she promised herself that she would get two things – a convertible and a German Shepherd Dog – and she did. Years of watching Rin Tin Tin convinced her that a German Shepherd Dog was the only breed for her. She has owned German Shepherds for about 45 years. She did not show that first dog, but did begin subscribing to the AKC Gazette where she learned about obedience trials. She attended several trials and vowed that her next Shepherd would be an obedience dog.
Victoria also had two Golden Retrievers, courtesy of a life-long friend, that she titled in obedience and agility, and they also made a brief foray into flyball. She has titled her German Shepherds in agility, obedience, tracking, herding and rally. She currently has several German Shepherds, including one very special therapy dog. He has been doing therapy work for seven years and has made friends for the German Shepherd wherever he has gone. Her newest puppy is hopefully destined for a career in obedience, agility, rally and tracking.
Victoria became interested in judging when she was titling her first Utility shepherd. She has been an obedience judge for about 20 years and a rally judge since the program began. She loves judging and has met many wonderful people and been to many places in her career. She especially enjoys working with the newer exhibitors and hopefully helping them on their way to a long career in obedience.
Victoria is also a Canine Ambassador for the AKC and gives programs for children on how to be safe around dogs. She really appreciates the educational materials the AKC provides.
Victoria is a retired educator originally from the state of New Jersey. She moved to North Carolina about seven years ago in order to get a large piece of property for her dogs.
