Lure Coursing
Sighthound Organization of Tidewater

The Sighthound Organization of Tidewater had their spring Lure Coursing meet on Saturday and Sunday, March 20/21-2004. A total of 74 sight hounds were entered on Saturday and 80 were entered on Sunday. The competition was very tough between these very fine Lure Coursers.

A total of eleven dogs finished their Junior Courser titles and two received their Senior Courser titles. The weather was great with a light frost on Saturday and some light rain on Sunday, but the temperature climbed to about 60 degrees on both days, making for a beautiful weekend.

The Jamestown Settlement Fort is about one mile from the coursing field, and we could hear the cannon and musket fire as they did a battle reenactment at the fort.

A Scottish Deerhound was Best in Field on Saturday and on Sunday it was a Irish Wolfhound going Best in Field. The field where the Lure Coursing was held is next to the Jamestown Beach Campsites, which has full hookups for motor homes and is a very pretty area.
