Success at the Hunting Test

by Don Paltani, Executive Field representative

One of AKC’s latest additions to the sporting breeds scores high in the hunting test program. Spinone Itialiono, Opie (Gateway’s Arancia Forza JH) completed his Senior Hunter title at the Southern Kansas Brittany Club Hunting Test on March 13–14, 2004. Opie is owned by Jack and Sandy Clendenny of Seiling, Oklahoma. The owners commented "The Southern Kansas Brittany Club holds a well–run test – organized and efficient. We always enjoy participating in AKC hunt tests."

As I watched the performance of Opie I was not sure just what I had witnessed. This big white dog was tearing the field apart in search of Quail. He was pointing with all the style and intensity of some of the more poplar breeds. And this big white dog was retrieving like a Labrador and honoring like a pointer. That was great!!

It was most gratifying to see the Spinone Itialiono, Opie, complete his Senior hunter title and I am sure he will be a Master Hunter very soon.
