Seventh Series

Seventh series is located in Bennettsville, SC on property next to Camp Bennettsville. This series is a 300 yard water blind. The handler comes to the line and gunners 115 yards out to the left throw out a poison bird and fire shots. The handler then lines up the dog with the blind. There are multiple cover changes before the dog reaches the water, which is about 80 yards from the line. From the line the dog crosses over a brush pile and then enters the water about 20 yards later. The handler can move up to the brush pile once the dog passes it (it was later changed to a closer mark to help speed things up). Handlers then moved left to right while giving casts. The dog swims to a strip of land and back into the water. Swims to another point and crosses it into the water. Then heads towards the blind which is on the far shore next to a bush.

*27 dogs will be back tomorrow (see the callbacks page for more info). Eighth series will be at Becker Sand and Gravel and the test will start with dog number 53.

Scrapped Seventh Series Test

The original test for the day was a land quad. After 4 dogs ran, the test was scrapped; difficulty on the long flyer hen pheasant at a distance of approximately 300 yards.

The first bird down, a flyer hen pheasant, was approximately 290 yards from the line. The gunners came out into the field and they, along with the other two gunning stations to the left of this one, retired in the trees after the dog left the line. The second bird (pheasant) was thrown left to right (as were all birds in this test) at approximately 220 yards from the line (to the left of the first bird). The third bird (pheasant) was to the far left and was approximately 275 yards from the line. The fourth bird was a flyer duck to the right of the line and approximately 100 yards from the line.
