Seventh Series

The seventh series, a water blind of approximately 275 yards, began at 4:10 PM Thursday with 26 dogs called back from the sixth series. Run from atop a large mound of dirt, the dogs had to run for about 30 yards before making an angle entry into the lake. Proceeding to swim 15 (+/-) yards, they then crossed a point, swim by a point and out to open water. Crossing the lake at an angle, the dogs then had to cross a point on the opposite side, swim by another point while proceeding to the blind placed on the top of the dam at the far end. Seven dogs ran before the judges called it quits for the day. With 19 dogs to go, starting time for Friday was announced to be at 7 AM for the test dog.

Sixth Series

The sixth series was a land quad, with two retired guns. The first bird down was the long bird, to the right of the running line at approximately 375 yards. The gunners were approximately ten yards from the holding blind, throwing the bird from left to right. The second gunner station was back to the left of the running line, at a distance of 135 yards. This bird was thrown right to left. The third gunning station was to the right of station number 2, at a distance of 165 yards. This bird was also thrown right to left. The final mark was to the left of station number 2, at a distance of approximately 155 yards. The bird, a live flyer, was thrown at an angle back and to the right. Varying winds and throws caused a wide variance in where the bird was landing. Gunning stations 1 and 3 retired as this bird was shot. The terrain was slightly rolling and cover consisted of pasture grass ranging from 6 to 8 inches in height.
