Sunday, November 7
The first series of the 2004 National Championship Stake consisted of a land double with the short dead bird thrown left to right at approximately 100 yards. This was followed by the flyer, a rooster pheasant, also thrown left to right at approximately 200 yards. When the dog left the line for the first bird, the dead bird station retired behind brush to the right rear of their station. When the marks were completed, the dog was sent on a blind retrieve between the guns at about 225 yards. The blind was planted at the base of a small green bush.
