Second and Third Series

All of the dogs from the first series were brought back.

Series two was a land blind ran from a hillside overlooking a flat land area at the base of rolling hills. Dogs left the line, crossed a road and then had to swim a small creek. After landing, they proceeded up the slopping hillside, angling into a cross wind. Cover consisted primarily of sage brush and some water grass around the creek edge. The blind was at a distance of approximately 350 yards.

Third Series - After completing the land blind, the handler/dog moved to run a water blind. Crossing the road again, dogs proceeded down the embankment, entered the creek and swam a distance of about 40 yards before landing to cross a point. Crossing the points, dogs then swam down the middle of the creek, past a point of land on the right shoreline to the opposite bank before landing just short of the bird placed approximately five yards upon land. First Series

The 2007 National Amateur Retriever Championship started off with a straightforward land double. The terrain was rolling off one hillside into a revine and up the opposite hillside. Cover was primarily sage brush. The dogs come to line to watch the first bird, up the revine, being thrown left to right and was landing at a distance of approximately 145 yards from the line (this gunning station retired behind a dike as dogs were cast for the second mark). After watching the first bird, dogs then turned to the right to watch a live flyer duck being shot right to left up the opposite hillside. The bird was landing at varying distances of 190-210 yards from the line. Rolling terrain and heavy sage brush cover were the main obstacles of the test.

First series should wrap up later this afternoon and second series will start today. Video Clips:
