Tenth Series and the 2007 National Amateur Retriever Champion

The tenth series for the 2007 National Amateur Championship was a land quad with three flyers and one dead bird retired mark. The first mark was the right center mark at 385 yards. It was a dead cock pheasant thrown left to right and slightly downhill. The second mark, a flying hen duck at 260 yards, converged toward the first mark. Third mark, the left center mark, was a hen pheasant flyer at 176 yards thrown dead away from the line. The fourth mark was well to the left and was a flying cock pheasant at 250 yards. This mark was thrown left to right.

The combination of three flyers and varied falls led to a wide variety of hunts on the flyers and the single retired mark. Video Clips:

Ninth Series

Quad with 2 retired guns and 2 flyers - Land/water quad set in the same canyon as series six, but instead running to the North. The first bird down is the left middle station, where guns stand at the base of a juniper on a side hill dotted with sage. The bird, a dead drake mallard, is thrown to the left into heavy sage at 305 yards. The guns retire into an enclosed brushed blind at the base of the tree. Second bird down is the short right-hand bird of the test. A dead hen mallard thrown from atop a cutbank to water below at 145 yards. This bird is thrown to the left and these guns also retire into a brushed blind. Then, 266 yards up the hill in a right middle configuration, flyer guns shoot a hen mallard up a slope of sage. This bird fall is "pinched" with the right mark. Finally, on the left, a rooster pheasant flyer is shot into the test to the right at 245 yards into sparse pasture grass. Although the wind is somewhat changing, the marks are primarily downwind. Video Clips:
