Friday: June 22Eighth Series
Land/water quad with two retired guns and one flyer. The running line is situated on the road that encircles the lake. This road is elevated from the floor of the test and the embankment is dotted with sage.
Station one is on the far side of the water. The guns throw a dead hen mallard to the left in brome grass at the water's edge about 275 yards out. The gunners retire into an enclosed brushed blind right behind them. Further to the right, station two stands on the side of a mound that is dotted with sage and grass. The gunners throw a dead rooster to the left at 175 yards and into sage below the road. They also retire into a brushed blind. Next, further to the right and positioned on the road toward the running line are flyer guns that shoot a hen mallard to the left about 93 yards out. Finally, way to the left, a set of guns throws to the right into a pocket of water that is in front of some cattails. This drake is 151 yards out.
The "infield" of this test includes an erratic patch of water with numerous fingers melting into marsh grass, along with brome and other grasses, sedge and sage, and is a haven for various types of wildlife, including sandhill cranes.

Seventh Series
Update: Two dogs were reinstated - dog 26 and 57 (judges announced that at the test site).
Water Blind - The line is situated on a slightly elevated gravel road. When the dog is sent, he/she goes down an embankment. The route to the bird includes a patchy area of sage, then sedge grass and then through a finger of water back into sedge. The route then becomes marshy, then goes through some cattails and another small pond. Upon exiting the pond, the dog crosses a sloping point. The point scallops back to the left in tempting fashion while the dog must cast into big water and swim back to the bird on the shore in brome grass.
Brome grass edges the lake and just beyond it is an inviting border of short grass that goes to the slope of a sage covered hill where the bird planter is located.
