Open All-Age

The Open All-Age dogs ran today at the field trial grounds located off of Point MacKenzie Road. There are mountain views all around. To the far left of the line you can see the Chugach Mountain range with its snow covered peaks. To the right of the line is Sleeping Lady Mountain.

The first test was a land triple with the wind out of the North. To the left of the line was the first bird, a dead duck, thrown left to right at 318 yards. The middle bird, a dead duck, was thrown right to left at 180 yards. And the third bird, to the right of the line was a flyer duck thrown left to right at 300 yards. The two left stations retired while the gunners on the live flyer remained visible.

Third series was a water blind and 14 dogs were back for this series (3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24). The blind was planted at about 215 yards. The dog leaves the line and runs through Alaskan muskeg. Enters the water and then crosses a muskeg point with brush that has been scented. The dog then goes back into the water towards the blind.

After 9 dogs had run, only 3 completed the test and the judges scrapped the third series water blind. They then went to water marks (a triple). The plans were to run the water blind in the morning.
