Non-Retrieving Stake: Day 2
The beautiful Spring weather was on hand again today. The temperature fell below freezing overnight which made for a cool morning. It warmed up quickly and became a near repeat of the day before. Gallery numbers were large and they were to enjoy a day filled with good performances and a couple that were not what was hoped for.
On hand for the last couple of days and in the gallery today was Mr. Jim Morehouse from Tri-Tronics who is also wearing the hat of Purina represenitive. Jim is always a pleasure to share time with. We are blessed to have the continuing support of these fine sponsors. Without them this event would not be possible.
Brace 8) High Roll-N’s Proposition “Sonny” GSP, Dave Walker
FC Marjo’s Here For the Party “Gretchen” Brittany, Joe Luisi
At five minutes, this pair had “separate but equal” finds, the dogs standing about twenty yards apart. Shortly after this Sonny was not responding as his handler desired and was up. Gretchen went on to record three more nice finds. She had excellent style and manners. Her race was hard hunting from start to finish.
Eshod’s Family Tradition “Hank” GSP, Ray Dohse
Hank was having trouble getting on track and was not with us for long. Bo had a nice find at 25 minutes but then could not get stopped for a wild flushing bird shortly there after.
Brace 10) FC Aztec’s Midnight Shift “Rogue” Weimaraner, Tim Carwile
FC AFC Palm Glades Jennie Belle “Jennie Belle” GSP Tim Smelcer
Rogue, who is one of the finest moving and hunting Weims around carded a good STF near the old “turn around field”, a non-productive in the loop area, and then but would miss an opportunity to back his brace mate, which caused him to be retired early. Jennie Belle spent her time hunting the cover with purpose. She would point game three times, have a good stop to flush, and have a nonproductive late in the hour. She had wonderful style on her game and is broke right. Her race was snappy, going from cover to cover. She was an enjoyable dog to watch with her well gaited, reaching stride.
Brace 11) East Coast Slick “Slick” Pointer, Matthew Basilone
2XNAFC Aztec’s American Pie “Chevy” Weimaraner, Nikolaus Scharf
Chevy, another fine moving Weimaraner, had trouble early and was relieved. Slick hunted the course well. He easily covered the ground. He would point game at thirty eight minutes and again at forty three minutes. He is impressive on his game, with style to burn, and unquestionable manners. He was hunting in heavy cover when time was called.
Brace 12) FC Savannah’s Hot Shot “Bammer” Brittany, Ben Lorenson
DC Melto-N-Barktalk’s Ruby Rose “Ruby” Vizsla, Bob Seelye
Bammer was in and out eventually he was out for good. Ruby moved well, hunted hard and had two finds. The second of these she was leaning into her game, almost to the point of falling forward. She is a very pretty dog on point. She worked hard for the entire hour.
Brace 13) Blue Rocks Diamond Girl “Diamond” Brittany, John Perry
Rovan’s Tailwind Tommy “Tom” Brittany, Ivan Clark
This pair of Britts were both powerful gun dogs. They were fast and intelligent in their quest for game. Tom would have one good find in the back loop. He was mannerly for the flush and shot. Diamond pointed game four times. These were evenly spaced throughout the hour. His was an intelligent search for game. Both dogs finished going away, in the final field.
Brace 14) Chester Dun Blu Byou “Chester” Pointer, Mike Mullineaux
Tony’s Redneck Bear “Bear” Pointer, James O’Donnell
Chester was to much dog this today and gave us the slip before the back loop. Bear found game four times. He displays great intensity when he points. Bear goes the cover and hunts at a good gundog race. He moves easily with a cracking tail.
