The advent of daylight savings time had things a bit confused as to the starting time on this sunny Sunday morning.  Day seven got under way at 8 am EDT/7 am EST.  The weather's only change was to get warmer!  There were six braces of the Non-Retrieving Championship to go.

2006 Pointing Breed Gun Dog Championship host, Fred Leggett and his daughter, Helen Reynolds

24A)  FC Gambles Odyssey Fritz (GSP male)
          Richard Hopkins owner
          Ray Dohse handler.
24B)  Zan Sett Blue (Irish setter male)
          Stan Zdanczewicz owner & handler

These two made nice, big moves.
Fritz pointed at the lower creek
            crossing.
Blue styled up nicely but went after the
birds bumping Fritz in the process.
Fritz took that as a signal to move up.
The brace was ended at 26.

25A)  FC/AFC Doubledee Dodger (Setter male)
            Gwynne McDevitt owner
            Walter Cruz handler.
25B)  GC Suzie B VD Esserburg (GSP female)
            Mary J. Durham owner
            Jim Heckert handler.

Dodger pointed near the trail at 34.
No birds were found.  He was asked to relocate and checked out two separate areas of cover to
no avail and was taken on at 38. Susie stopped to flush at 26.

26A)  Blue Rock's Diamond Girl (Brittany female) John Perry owner & handler.
26B)  FC/AFC Sandy Creek Skedaddle (Gordon setter male) Ken Kohles owner, Jim Heckert owner.
The final morning brace on Sunday found game.  Diamond stopped to flush at 9 and
            pointed quail at 12.  Rebel pointed feathers at 17.  He had a beautiful find at 34;
he showed a classy gait and high style on game.  Diamond backed him nicely at 34.

27A)  FC Tulli's Scatback (GSP female) Joseph Amatulli owner & handler.
27B)  FC Echo's Little Bit of Clown (GSP female) Ed & Trudy Moody owners Ray Dohse handler.
Bitty was the Winner of the Retrieving Championship.  She scored a very nice find at 5.
No other birds were moved this brace; it ran in the heat of the day.  Selina ran a big,
strong race.  Bitty's race was strong until late in the hour.  Both Shorthairs ran the edges
            attractively.

28A)  The Far Side's Kid Amee (Brittany female) Burton Wise owner & handler.
28B)  Ravenwood Crossfire (Setter male) William Bruchey owner Alex Smith handler.
The setter was scratched.  Amee ran by herself and did a commendable job.
She scored good finds at 8 and 13.

29A)  Doubledee Diva (Setter female) Gwynne McDevitt owner Walter Cruz handler.
29B)  FC/AFC Bitteroot Semper Fi Iron Mike (Vizsla male) Al Lucas & Tom Digney owners Al Lucas handler.

Judges Art Cohen and Roy Pelton spent some long hours in the saddle to judge the Non-Retrieving Championship. Their talent and their hard work are very much appreciated.  Thanks again to Dan Hoke and Ed Hart for the time and knowledge they lent to judging the Retrieving Championship.

Enough can not be said of the generosity of Fred Leggett in allowing the use of his wonderful Cloverdale Farm.  The courses were ideal, the headquarters were top of the line.  It would be difficult to top this location.  It would be impossible to top the hospitality shown by Mr. Leggett and his family.  Everyone in attendance felt honored to be here!

CREDITS
As in any good production there are many people who deserve recognition for jobs well done.  The Conestoga Vizsla Club hosted this event.  Its members and a few other good people facilitated it.  The offices of AKC, namely Lisa Carroll, Bill Speck and Ken Marden coordinated plans with the Trial Chairman.  Al Lucas was fortunate to have some very dedicated help.  Terry Lucas served as Trial Secretary and handled many details, big and small.  Judges Marshal Howard Schultz rode every brace for seven days.  He really earned his nickname, "Iron Man."  Stake managers Beth Molnar and Julia Bonar were fabulous.  They served as Gallery Marshals for nearly every brace of the event.  They were assisted at times by Clint Sails, Dave Roseman and Dan Gooch.

The Gunners for the Retrieving Stake were excellent.  Tom Digny and Don Brown served for most of the braces and made some terrific shots.  With four gunners at all times, AKC provided alternating gunners that also did great jobs.  They were Bill Speck, Jerry Mann, Mel Stewart, Lyle Johnson and Mike Aldrich.
Bird planters were all supplied by AKC.  Lyle Johnson, Mike Aldrich, Jerry Mann, Bill Speck and Mel Stewart took turns with this chore.

A special Thanks to Dot Hively for her work on the catalog; and to Margie Schultz for the raffle!  Thanks also to Beth Molnar for her work on the trial Premium.
This event is an annual one that rotates around the country.  If Virginia was too far for you to travel, maybe next year's event will be "coming to a theater" near you!

Thanks to everyone who attended.  The sportsmanship was great!
