Day two of the Non-Retrieving Championship was warm and dry. The gallery kicked up a cloud of dust and temperatures reached the mid seventies. . Conditions were less than ideal but some good performances were witnessed. Friday's running began at 7am; eight braces were completed by days' end.
8A) Dietz's Sasha Nogoodnick (Weimaraner female) Owned by Pam Dietz; handled by Scott Beyer.
8B) Trinity's Razzle Dazzle (Setter female) Owned by Wayne & Trish James, handler Ray Dohse
Sasha applied herself well. She pointed at 8 but it was not productive. Dazzle pointed at 22 with Sasha backing. All was in order here for both dogs. At 34 Sasha pointed birds and handled them correctly. Dazzle scored her second find at 35.
9A) Doubledee Dylan (Setter male) Owned by Gwynne G. McDevitt, handled by Walter Cruz.
9B) DC/AFC Upn'Adams Super Sioux (GSP female) Tom & Katie Tazza owners; Katie
Tazza handler.
Dylan was under a bird at 8. Sioux hunted smartly and carded two good finds. On her third find she took birds out.
10A) Celtic's Sedition (Irish Setter male) Paul Ober owner, Scott Beyer handler.
10B) Doubledee Dorothy (Setter female) Owned by Gwynne McDevitt, Walter Cruz handler.
Rebel made nice moves. He pointed early in the brace but it was a non-productive. He pointed again at 12; relocating far down the edge he flushed a quail in the process. Dot was also up early in the hour.
11A) Pete Moss (Pointer male) Judith Hamilton owner, Dave Pomfret handler.
11B) CH Carmel'n Heywires Time Flies, MH CGC (GWP female) Wendy & Richard
Warwick & Audrey Meinke owners, Scott Beyer handler.
Pete scored a find early and was steady for flush and shot. Mayfly had finds at 15, 20 and 40. All of her work was clean. Her race was close in range. Pete had a good find early. At 40 he backed his brace mate. Pete's race was good until the heat slowed him, late in the hour.
12A) Max's Main Man (Setter male) Owned by Bryan Sullivan, handled by Jim Heckert.
12B) FC Grit Nitro Smoke ( Brittany male) Richard Christopher owner and handler.
Smoke pointed unsuccessfully at 5. He scored a good find at 10. Smoke found birds again at 15 but failed to handle them properly. The setter pointed at 24; this was a beautiful piece of bird work.
13A) FC/AFC Trace's Silver Twist (GSP male) Bob Erbe & Doreen Fernandez owners;
Bob Erbe handler.
13B) FC Aztec's Midnite Shift (Weimaraner male) Owned by Tim Carwile & Mike & Pat Bailey;chandled by Scott Beyer.
This was an action packed hour. Rogue had a non-productive at 5. Hook, the shorthair scored a quality find at 10. At 16, it was Rogue with a find and Hook honoring. Hook had his second good find at 19. Rogue carded finds at 20 and 30. Hook suffered a barren stand at 35. He pointed again at 50, stopping to flush on relocation. Hook ran a smart, forward race with power.. Rogue applied himself with a nice hunting pattern.
14A) Zan Sett Walter Ray (Irish setter male) Stan Zdanczewicz owner and handler.
14B) FC/AFC Hits Tailor Made (Brittany female) Judy & Ralph Kiracofe owners; Ralph Kiracofe handler.
Wally backed at 14. He pointed at 26 but birds were not seen. Tailor pointed birds staunchly at 14, 29 and 38.
15A) FC Just Bien (Setter female) Wayne James owner, Ray Dohse handler.
15B) FC Dr. Hutch (Brittany male) Martha Greenlee owner and handler.
Hutch was lost early. Bien had a stylish find at 14. She pointed at 45; relocation lasted until 50. She was high and tight for the flush. Bien ran a big race.
Eight braces were completed this day. The nightly social hour again kicked off soon after the last brace was in. It was a tradition that was anticipated with pleasure; it was a good way to settle the dust!
