The AKC Pointing Breed Gun Dog Championship: Non-Retrieving Stake.

This Championship commenced on Thursday March 30, 2006 following completion of the Retrieving Championship.  Fifty-eight entries were drawn.  A ride through of the one hour course was held at 7am; the stake began at 9.  Judges are Art Cohen and Roy Pelton. 

1A)  DC/FC Upn'Adams Florens Louis, CD SH (GSP male) Katrine & Thomas Tazza,
       owners; Katie Tazza, handler.
1B)  FC/AFC Grit Nitro Bif, (Brittany male) Richard Christopher owner & handler.
Louie scored a clean find at 7 with Bif backing.  At 9 Bif pointed, Louie failed to back and took the birds out.  Bif remained mannerly through all.  Bif pointed again at 21, all in order.  At 40 Bif pointed on the creek edge.  It was another good piece of bird work.  He had a find on a dead bird at 54.  Bif ran an adequate gun dog race.

2A)  Doubledee Falconswhatadeal, (Gordon setter male) Gwynne Mcdevitt owner,
        Walter Cruz, handler.
2B)  Day Tripper, (English setter female) Judith Hamilton owner, Dave Pomfret handler.
Dealer pointed birds at 12 and was mannerly at the flush.  Tripper had a clean find at 16.  On the river edge at 33, Tripper carded a second find with all in good order.  Dealer pointed stylishly at 48 but no birds could be found.

3A)  Three Oak Rifraf Rapd'n Sable (GSP female) Peter Nichola owner, Scott Beyer
            Handler.
3B)  Bitteroot Semper Fi Cutter (Vizsla male) Clint Sails owner and handler.
Sable was in season and dropped to the end of the day.  Cutter carded a nice find on the left edge at 7.  He made another nice move and was rewarded with a find at 11.  Cutter's third find came at 38.  He pointed chucker nicely at 53.  His race was very nice for the most part but the heat slowed him down in the later minutes.

4A)  Redbud's Rodeo Clown, (GSP male) Drew Martin owner, Ray Dohse handler.
4B)  BY
            This brace was short-lived; Rodie was seen under birds at 5.

5A)  FC Feather Terrors Gritz-n-Gravy, (Pointer female) Steven Anker owner & handler.
5B)  FC/AFC Palmglade's Shameless Lenny, (GSP male) Tim Smelcer owner & handler.
Lenny pointed a dead bird at 6 with Gritz backing.  Lenny scored a nice find at 30.  Gritz pointed at 45 but was taken on at 49 with a nonproductive.  Lenny pointed another dead bird at time.

6A)  Jude's O'Brophy Summer, (Irish setter female) Elizabeth & Bob Doran owners, Ray
         Dohse handler.
6B)  Grit Nitro Charlie, ( Brittany male) Richard Christopher owner & handler.
Summer pointed at 10 with Charlie backing.  It was a dead bird.  Summer pointed again at 15, Charlie backed on sight.  This was a pretty piece of bird work with all good for both dogs.  Charlie had a mannerly find at 19.  On the way to the front at 21, he stopped to flush.  Summer pointed at 25, a long relocation followed but her birds were flushed and all turned out nicely.  Charlie also scored a find at 25.
Summer turned in a beautiful, edge running race with a strong finish.

7A)  Three Oak Rifraf Rapd'n Sable (GSP female) Peter Nichola owner, Scott Beyer
            Handler.
7B)  Archer's Cassandra, (Pointer female) Elizabeth & Fred Archer owners; Jim
        Heckert handler.
Sable had a mind of her own and was picked up early.  Cassie ran a wonderful race.  She pointed attractively at 42, it was good work.  Cassie had a nonproductive at 53 on the way to the bridge.  Released from there she went on to make some beautiful moves and was found on point at 59.  This was another quality find.  Her overall performance was exciting to watch.
