Event Search and Results Frequently Asked Questions
Q: In the previous search there was a Single Breed – Past Events tab that allowed me to generate a list of events where at least one dog from a specific breed competed. How do I generate that list in the new AKC Event Search and Results?
A: The Single Breed – Past Events report is not available as part of the new AKC Event Search and Results. We are working to make this report available to our customers. In the interim, we are prepared to assist parent clubs obtain the data they used to get from the report for their parent club rankings and awards. Parent club representatives should send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the competition(s), breed, and month you are requesting.
Q: Why can’t I search by state anymore?
A: Our research shows that most exhibitors will only travel a certain distance away from their home to compete in dog sports. The city and radius combination provides most exhibitors the filter to locate events they are interested in. Additionally, moving from a map-based selection to a city/radius based selection positioned the search to work on all devices accessing our website. Approximately 65% of the users access the AKC website using a mobile device. The map-based selection did not work on a mobile device and the city/radius based selection has become a standard for area searches on websites.
Q: When I use a city and a distance/radius combination, it brings back events outside of my state that I am not interested in. How do I stop that?
A: If you are looking for events in a certain area, pairing the Date Range filter with the Location filter will narrow the search results to events that may interest you much more effectively than searching by state. If you are searching for only events your breed is eligible to participate in, make sure and select that specific breed in the Breed filter as well.
Q: How do you limit a search to events in specific states?
A: The Event and Awards search provides a city and radius combination to filter the location of events. For example, if you want to search for events in the Virginia/North Carolina/South Carolina area, consider using Raleigh, NC as your base city and either the 250 or 500 miles radius option.

Q: I don’t know the name of the city the show is in. How am I supposed to find it?
A: You don’t have to know the exact city an event is in. For instance, you may not know that the Maryland State Fairgrounds is in Timonium, MD. However, you know it is near Baltimore so you can use Baltimore, MD as the base city and a distance away of 50 miles. That will make the shows in Timonium, MD candidates for return in the search.

Once the application is processed, the event information can be displayed, even if the event is in a pending status.
