Scottish Terrier Club of America Hosts Post-Montgomery Earthdog Test

The post-Montgomery KC Earthdog test on Monday was once again held at Village Green Farm Earthdog Center. This year it was the Scottish Terrier Club of America’s turn to play host. This event was to have been chaired by Letty Passig. Sadly, she passed away a few weeks before the event. The club dedicated this event to her memory. Letty’s history in go-to-ground and Earthdog events was a long one and she will be missed. Mary Helen Rice took on the chair’s duties and John McNabney was the event secretary. With 150 entries, he was a busy man. The conditions for the day were ideal for Earthdog with a cool and overcast start to the day and the sun eventually coming out to shine on the later competitors. Master judge Bob Gann of Colorado had 21 master entries to evaluate and just over half ended up leaving with green rosettes. Senior was judged by Marg Pough of New York. The Junior judge was Stephanie Capkovic of Pennsylvania. Lynn Stonesifer of Maryland had a large Intro to Quarry class. As with many events attended by people from a wide area, old friendships were renewed and new acquaintances made. Those who left before the final awards were presented missed a unique treat: a chance visit by a Mister Softee ice cream truck was a delicious way to end the successful day.
