2007 AKC National Agility Championship
Day Four - Saturday, March 31, 2007

As the sun was rising early in Sunbury, OH, the Ohio State ROTC started off the 2nd day of competition with a flag presentation and the National Anthem was sung by Chelsea Carpenter.

Winners of the Team Spirit Awards were announced prior to the 1st walk thru. The winners are:
Best State Stall Decorations - Colorado
Best State Team Shirts - Ohio
Best State Team Spirit - Indiana
The Judges for the 11th National Agility Championship are Ken Boyd, Rhonda Crane, Don Farage, Debbie Hunt and Randy Reed.

Exhibitors started their day with a Standard course designed by AKC Agility Judge Rhonda Crane. She likes to design courses that flow and felt the one for this morning allowed dogs to maintain their speed throughout the course, especially at this level of competition. The combo of 12-13-14 is an example of her philosophy. She prefers to not see hard angles and to also have areas on the course where risk gets rewarded.

The JWW course for Round 2 was designed by AKC Agility Judge Don Farage. Don designed the course with a few ideas in mind. He feels the exhibitors will need to find the most efficient way to navigate through the jump sequence #3-4-5, then later on the course they will need to come back through this sequence, #14-15-16, but will need to clearly communicate the turn to #17. At the top of the course, #6-7-8 was designed to have the dog pushed out to the triple without a lot of handler assistance. The final closing sequence requires the dog to turn to #18 and not continue on the straight path back over #3 & #2.
