2009 AKC Agility Invitational

Judges – Marco Mouwen

Marco A. Mouwen started in agility in 1982 under the instruction of Peter Lewis, and Bill and Angela Chuter, who were among the first to introduce agility to the world. He quickly became hooked on the sport and within a few years became an agility trainer, building the agility part of KC Uden with his twin brother. In 1992, he started the training group "agimm."

In 1990-91, Mouwen was approved to judge in Switzerland and England and has since judged in many European countries, Japan, Argentina, Columbia, and many parts of the USA. He has judged the National Championships in Finland and Spain, the Nordic Championship, the Agility World Cup Final, and the European Open. He has served as a delegate for the FCI since 1998 and is currently responsible for the FCI agility guidelines.

In addition to his training and judging, Mouwen is an avid agility competitor; his Border Collies have participated and placed in several international as well as national competitions. His current Border Collie, Myrthe, is quickly working her way up the ranks in agility and recently passed her herding entry test.

Mouwen lives in Switzerland with his wife and two children, where he works as a physical therapist and an animal physical therapist. He is honored to serve as the international judge for the 2009 AKC Agility Invitational and wishes all the competitors the best of luck.
