Has your club been invited to participate in a public education event on proper care and humane treatment of dogs? Is your federation planning a lobby day at the state capitol? Are students at a local veterinary college interested in learning about responsible breeding practices? You have the opportunity, you have the volunteers, but perhaps the cost of renting booth space, printing materials, or developing a presentation is an obstacle.
Good news! Your AKC club or AKC-affiliated federation may be eligible for a grant of up to $500 to assist with the expenses of developing, administering, and presenting an educational program or event.
AKC Government Relations is pleased to announce the availability of Canine Legislative Support Fund Educational Grants in support of your group’s educational and advocacy initiatives. These small grants are designed to assist clubs and federations in educating dog owners, the public and elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels about responsible dog ownership, canine policy and protecting the future of responsible dog owners and breeders. Grants may also be used for specific public outreach events that highlight AKC policy positions as they relate to pending state and local issues.
Please contact the AKC Government Relations staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-816-3720 for more information about eligibility, to discuss your event, and for guidance on organization and materials.
