Editor's Note
It is with very mixed emotions that I write this, my final
Editor’s Note for Taking Command. While following my husband
and his new job to San Diego is an exciting prospect, it was
no easy decision to step down from my role as AKC’s Canine
Legislation Director. For the past seven years, I have had the
pleasure of working with a wonderful, talented group of individuals—both
within AKC and within the dog community. I have an enormous
amount of respect for the passion you all have for your dogs,
and for all you do to protect them and the sport.
I leave the Canine Legislation department with a little lighter
heart knowing that Walter Bebout, currently an AKC Field Rep
and long-time breeder, fancier and judge, will be taking over
the reins. Walter’s expertise will no doubt serve the
department well, and I know that he and the rest of our staff
will continue to act as dog owners’ staunch advocate when
it comes to reasonable, enforceable canine legislation.
Best wishes to you all.
