Responsible Dog Ownership Day will be celebrated in parks across America
during the month of September. These events are a great opportunity
for clubs and Legislative Liaisons to reach out to communities and elected
officials in a positive, non-controversial manner. They also allow clubs
to showcase their wonderful canine friends and to educate the public
about the importance of proper socialization and care of their animals.
Several scheduled events will offer information about the Canine Good
Citizen program and some will even offer the test at the event.
Many active Legislative Liaisons know the best way to protect our communities
from overly restrictive laws is to promote responsible dog ownership.
Why not show legislators the same by contacting your local elected officials
and inviting them to a nearby RDO Day celebration? This provides a way
to network with politicians to share the best of the dog world and to
promote public education as a way to improve animal control.
