Editor's Note
July 2005

As we begin the second half of the year, California dog owners have yet another battle on their hands & this time over proposed legislation that would permit breed-specific ordinances in the state. Please see our feature article this month for more information about how you can help fight to keep the state &s generic dangerous dog law intact.

Most purebred dog owners keep pretty hectic schedules, but for those who will be near the Houston area this month, I urge you to make time to attend an Empowered Action seminar co-hosted by the Canine Legislation department and the Houston Kennel Club on July 21st. Held in conjunction with the Reliant Park World Series of Dog Shows, the seminar is free and begins at 6:30 p.m. in Room 106 of the Reliant Center. The presentation will cover current issues facing fanciers on the local and state level and discuss ways dog fanciers can positively influence this legislation. Whether you are an experienced lobbyist or new to the world of canine legislation, we urge you to join is. Hope to see you there!

Regards,

Stephanie Lane
