Greetings from AKC Public Education!

I couldn’t be more excited about the new AKC Education Match program. In this issue, you’ll read a bit about the successful match put on by the Greater Portland, Oregon, area clubs. Forty clubs worked together to put on this fantastic new event and truly grasped the concept that this is a multi-club event aimed to educate, encourage and retain newcomers to the sport. I commend these clubs for their outstanding and successful efforts.

I ask you to work together with clubs in your region to put on an AKC Education Match later this year or in 2008. It’s an undertaking that will reap huge benefits. The AKC Education Matches introduce and recruit newcomers to the sport, educate the public about the sport of purebred dogs, the AKC, their breeds and responsible dog ownership; match new exhibitors with breed mentors; attract and recruit new club members; and forge stronger relationships between kennel clubs in the area. All clubs that significantly participate in the AKC Multi-club Education Match will receive credit for holding a Sanctioned B Match.

Please contact me with any questions you may have or to sign on to coordinate an AKC Education Match.

Best regards,
