My name is Zena Brenner. From the age of 5, I have been involved in working with dogs. I began in Agility and Obedience, and moved on to Conformation and Junior Show Handling.

It is of utmost importance to commit yourself to learn about the breed you are showing in junior handling. Yet at the same time you must keep your education high on the list. I feel that school is most important because that is what will get you through life. Dog shows will enhance your life and bring you great rewards of joy, love and self fulfillment in your accomplishments. Balancing the two is quite the chore and can be done with great commitment to both. I have found my involvement with purebred dogs to be wonderful and rewarding work. To be able to communicate with these animals gives life another dimension.

My future involvement in purebred dogs is very important to me. I am doing that by giving back to the breeds that have been so supportive of me in my junior handler years. I have been extensively involved in two specific breeds in junior handling: English Cocker Spaniels and Saint Bernards. These two breeds are rather different breeds in all aspects of grooming, training and handling. I loved both breeds so much and I just couldn't choose one over the other, so I decided to show them both in junior show. It came with many challenges, one breed shown on the ground, constantly up and down in showing their best attributes. And the other, large and a rather different stride, with alot of slobber! But, I learned the different techniques to handle them both. I feel truly rewarded and grateful to have had this experience from such a young age. It has deepened my love and passion of the breeds and I am dedicated to the betterment of their breeding programs to produce healthy and loving puppies.

I will also continue to work with dogs in their Canine Good Citizen and Service Dog accreditations and volunteer in my community to bring people and dogs together.

I am continuing my show handler career, specializing in English Cockers and Saint Bernards. I am interested in continuing to focus on these two breeds and learn even more about them. I have co-bred litters that I plan to show.
