Rip
By Sophia Patterson
I am Sophia Patterson and am 12-years-old. I have been training my aunt’s border collie, Rip, in agility over the past year. Initially neither Rip now I knew what to do on the agility field. It looked so simple from the sidelines, but I quickly learned this was a team sport, not just a way to have fun with your dog. I learned verbal and body commands that could be taught to Rip in order for him to know what we had to do in the agility ring. We have progressed one obstacle at a time becoming more and more consistent and successful at the trials. Through agility I have learned the true meaning of team work, made many friends, and have a bond with my dog that will last forever. Rip and I enjoy working together in agility and he always gives me a special smile.
