My Inspiration & Agility
by Sarah Kiely
My
name is Sarah J. Kiely and I love dogs! I was inspired in agility
when my mom surprised me with my new dog, a beautiful tri-color Shetland
Sheepdog named Allie Oop. I started agility all because of my mom
and I’m very glad she is always there to help me with it.
My mom shows her Pomeranian, Honey Dew, at AKC agility trials, and
I went to all of my mom’s agility trials. They were so much fun to watch
that I wanted to actually SHOW in the trials myself. Then I got Allie
Oop, my new dog! She listens so very well and Allie Oop and I are
currently competing in AKC Excellent B agility. We started off by
socializing her with other people and dogs and she loved to play with
them. I took her everywhere with me, even to my grandmother’s nursing home, and visit with all the patients there.
I always wanted a dog just like Allie Oop and I got her all because
of my mom.
All
of the trials Allie Oop and I show in are so much fun to be at, no
matter if we Q or not. So, I started all because of my mom and her
terrific agility Pomeranian, Honey Dew, who also competes in AKC Excellent
B standard and jumpers. Allie Oop followed right in Honey Dew’s footsteps. Allie Oop is now in Excellent B standard
and has just gone up to Excellent A jumpers. Allie Oop and I also
competed in the “Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Junior Agility” in June 2005 in Jersey City, New Jersey. WHAT FUN
THAT WAS and what an awesome experience!! Allie Oop is doing so well
at agility and has only been doing it for a short time! My mom helps
me though and always knows the right things to do. We practice in
the backyard often, go to agility matches, but we ALWAYS keep it FUN!
We train in our backyard, so that helps a lot!
Allie Oop is just a great dog to have, we have an incredible bond,
she trusts me, and Allie Oop is the best dog anyone could ever ask
for!
My mom inspired me with the AWESOME sport of AGILITY!
