Central Ohio Kennel Club, Inc., Youth Award

Amanda M. Mitchell of Phelan California is the winner of the Central Ohio Kennel Club’s 2005 Youth Award. Amanda was selected from twenty applicants. She has been involved in the sport of dogs for thirteen years, competing in conformation, junior showmanship, obedience and earth dog trials and is the sole trainer of her dogs.

She has qualified for Westminster and was a finalist in 2005. In 2003, she was California Junior of the Year.

In addition to these accomplishments, Amanda finds time to volunteer twenty hours per week at an animal shelter and hopes to judge Junior Showmanship.

2006 Award
The Central Ohio Kennel Club, Inc. is offering a $500.00 youth award for persons age 21 and under.

Qualifications for Eligibility:

1. Competing in AKC sanctioned events e.g. conformation, obedience, agility, tracking or any combination of events.
2. Age 21 or younger.
3. Submission of a 300-400 word essay on your involvement in dog competition. Include at the top of your essay, your age, name, address and telephone number with the area code. NO PICTURES PLEASE. Winners will be chosen from all eligible entries. The COKC Scholarship Committee will make the final decision. All entries must be received by December 30, 2006. The winner will be announced in January 2007.
