Havanese Nationals Bright and early on August 26, fourteen Junior Handlers had the honor of being judged by Ms. Jean Fournier at the Havanese Club of America’s 2005 National Specialty. There was a strong support out for our juniors, with many enthusiastic exhibitors cheering them on. See results of the competition below. This year brought the formation of the Junior Showmanship committee (chaired by Barb Johannes with members Cherie Belcher, Adam King, and Tami Parde) for the HCA, and we have big plans for our future! Though a numerically small breed, Havanese fanciers from all over donated many show-related items to fill grooming bags that were given to each participant. Many raffle tickets were purchased to help raise funding for this fledgling committee. There was a special “Junior” table reserved in their honor at the annual banquet, and it appeared that everyone had a wonderful time! We are looking forward to the future, and a great Junior Showmanship committee for many years to come, thanks to the great support of some very gracious and kind Havanese owners.
