Obedience Club of Daytona — Sept. 7th in Daytona Beach, Florida: OCOD's annual Responsible Dog Ownership Day will focus on the past, current and future relationship between humans and canines, with a strong emphasis on education about responsible dog ownership, both for adults and children. Breed-specific rescue groups, service dog groups and a local AKC breed club will be on-site and visitors will also be able to enjoy obedience, agility and canine freestyle dancing demos!
Northern Cascades Saluki Fanciers— Sept. 14th in Olympia, Washington: Club members will have their Salukis available in a local park for people to meet and greet. They'll be educating people about the breed and responsible dog ownership.
Jaxon Kennel Club — Sept. 14th in Jackson, Michigan: Bring your dog to the Jaxon Kennel Club event. There will be a Parade of Dogs, a free rabies clinic (first 75 dogs) and My Dog Can Do That!, where you and your dog can try out basic agility and rally obstacles.
MYNE Training and Boarding Facility – Sept. 22nd in Argyle, New York: Bring your dog for an all-pet parade (costumes optional), Blessing of the Animals, obedience demonstrations, AKC Canine Good Citizen testing, TDI therapy dog testing, meet the breeds, and service dog demonstrations. Other activities are still being planned and added!
Tyler Obedience Training Club — Sept. 25th in Tyler, Texas: TOTC's RDO Day will be held at the East Texas State Fair. Every 30 minutes, Tyler Obedience Training Club members will demonstrate agility plus basic and advanced obedience and end with several members showing their dogs doing tricks. |RDO Days in the Classroom |
Responsible Dog Ownership Days in the Classroom is returning for another year! If you are an AKC Canine Ambassador and you have a school, library, 4-H or community center visit or presentation coming up in or around September, we invite you to participate in this program.
RDO Days in the Classroom is an offshoot of the Responsible Dog Ownership Days program, where AKC clubs and dog organizations across the country host community events celebrating the importance of responsible dog ownership. We encourage our Canine Ambassadors to incorporate the responsible dog ownership message into presentations they make to local kids. RDO Days in the Classroom participants will receive a special kit to use with their presentation.
There are a total of 400 kits available. Kits will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
To reserve your kit, please respond to email@example.com with the following information:

We will list your event and club affiliation on a special page on: www.akc.org/rdod.
AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Days
Hosting or thinking about hosting an AKC Canine Good Citizen® test sometime in September? If you do, register it as an AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Days event and you'll receive a free packet of educational materials to distribute to your participants and students. AKC CGC testing is often one of the most popular parts of all AKC RDO Days, and obviously, a great indicator of responsible ownership!
$1,000 Presented to AKC Affiliated Clubs Hosting Exceptional AKC RDO Day Events
The fourth quarter Community Achievement Awards will solely honor AKC clubs holding exceptional AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day (AKC RDO Day) events in September 2013. AKC RDO Days aim to educate first-time dog owners about the responsibilities of dog ownership and help current owners enhance their relationships with their pets.
For the fourth quarter only, any AKC-affiliated clubs, AKC-recognized federations and their members who host an AKC RDO Day event in their community are eligible for nomination. In order to qualify for the award, the club must hold its event in the month of September. Nominations for the AKC Community Achievement Awards are accepted year-round, however, due to the fact that the 4th quarter awards are dedicated solely to AKC RDO Days, nominations for RDO Day events will not be accepted for consideration for the three remaining quarters. Up to three honorees are named each quarter. Award recipients will receive a certificate and a check for $1,000 payable to the club or federation's public education and canine legislation efforts.
Learn more about the AKC Community Achievement awards and the nominating process here.
