You Don’t Need Wings to Fly in this Sport

Eek (above) has donned her butterfly wings for agility practice in honor of Halloween, but she does not need them. The Border Collie-mix soars over jumps and holds the top honor in AKC Agility of Master Agility Champion (MACH) through the AKC Canine Partners program for all dogs, including mixed-breeds.

Eek’s formal name is MACH Ellie Ellis Kim MXB MJB, and she is owned, loved and trained by Narae Kim and Ron Ellis of Concord, CA, who operate an agility training center.

Her housemate and friend, Fergie, is flying high in agility this week too, with her own set of wings as she works the A-Frame.

Agility is an obstacle course for dogs in which dogs execute tunnels, jumps, weave poles and climbing obstacles like a “cat” walk for dogs. It is a good source of exercise, confidence building, and a bonding experience for owners and dogs. For more information:
