Walk Through a Playground Leads to Agility Championship

MACH The Terra Mista Griff MXS MJS MXF MFS TQX owned by Mark Ostrich of Jefferson, LA

Griff is a wheaten terrier mix and the first dog that Mark owned as an adult. He discovered that Griff had an aptitude for agility quite by accident.

“We were walking in the park and came upon a children's play set.  I let him off his leash and directed him to go up the stairs and down the slide, and he actually did it,” Mark said. “Knowing only a little about agility, I looked for and found the local agility field and classes.”

Six months later, Griff competed in his first trial and qualified in two out of three classes.

“Agility has been a regular part of our life ever since,” he said. “I call Griff a ‘Camry,’ because he is so easy to handle and runs courses perfectly but with slower times.”

Griff showed that slow and steady does pretty well when he won the highest honor that AKC gives to agility competitors – the Master Agility Championship (MACH)!

Griff competes in AKC Agility through the AKC Canine Partners program for all dogs, including mixed-breeds and rescues.
