The Lapponian herder has a typical spitz breed type coat. Their medium length double coat lies flat and can come in many colors including black, brown, and grey variations often with white and tan markings. Minimal grooming is required. They don’t typically shed much but mild brushing should be done seasonally.
They should be regularly exercised as they were developed as a herding breed that needs a job. Lapponian Herders thrive when they have a job to do. Like many other breeds they can become destructive if they do not get enough physical and mental stimulation. However when given proper attention they make excellent pets who can relax and be a loyal family dog.
