- Protect Your Rights
Protect your ability to own dogs!
Each year, the AKC sees an increasing number of proposed laws on the federal, state, and local levels that would infringe on your rights to own, breed, and show dogs. AKC is working hard to fight these proposals, and we need your help! Breeders and owners need to be aware and active on the local level to protect their rights. Learn about important issues and get involved by visiting the AKC Government Relations Legislative Action Center
AKC Government Relations (AKC GR) has made it very easy for you to get involved by developing an online Legislative Action Center where you will find the latest legislative alerts, talking points, and sample letters, and even handouts you can download and print for shows, club events, and your fellow dog lovers! The AKC GR microsite is designed to make it easier for dog lovers to learn more about and advocate on key issues that impact dogs and dog ownership.
The site is accessible from their homepage and from AKC’s GR webpage. Features include: tabs for the Government Relations blogs, educational and advocacy resources organized by issue, a listing of legislative alerts, a tool to identify who your representatives are, the AKC GR twitter feed, and a tab for supporting the efforts of the Canine Legislative Support Fund or AKC PAC.
