Shannen Doherty Says Her German Shepherd Was The First To Detect Her Cancer

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty revealed last August that she had been battling breast cancer since March 2015. Now, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she reports that her dog, a German Shepherd named Bowie, was actually the first one to detect her cancer.

"She would obsessively sniff right here on my right side for a long time before, so it made sense when I got diagnosed," Doherty told Entertainment Tonight.

As she has been fighting a difficult battle, Bowie has been attentive and supportive of Doherty the entire time. After her mastectomy surgery, Bowie again was sniffing her side, and has become even more protective of her since the procedure and chemotherapy.
