Every AKC agility premium list contains a plea for volunteers to help. Volunteers are vitally important to keeping a trial running smoothly -- they assist with set up and clean up, and are on task for every class. Our Mississippi Mavericks Agility Club (MMAC) volunteers have been so helpful that the club wanted to reward them in a special way.
In the spirit of AKC clubs being not-for-profit, MMAC not only keeps entry fees extremely low for exhibitors, but also decided to use profits from recent AKC agility trials to give back to the many hard workers that made the trial possible.
MMAC sponsored a three day agility seminar featuring six-time AKC National Agility Championship winner Barb Davis, who was excellent. The around 50 volunteers who attended this free seminar learned new skills, improved their technique and played games with their puppies. The volunteers showed as much enthusiasm for Barb's teachings as they do for helping out. MMAC hopes to make the volunteer seminar an annual event.
The Mississippi Mavericks Agility Club loves and appreciates its volunteers!
