Hamburg All Breed Obedience Club Raises Money for Charity in a Unique Way

By Carole Gannon, HABOC Secretary

The Hamburg All Breed Obedience Club (HABOC) in Hamburg, New York is a small club that has hosted numerous Agility and Obedience Trials over the years.  One day, our Agility Chairpersons, Ellen Schopp and Undine Bistany, brought a new idea to our members. We decided that instead of giving toys away for Qualifying runs at our trials,  we'd attach Q-Dollar tags to all the green Qualifying ribbons at our Agility trials.  HABOC chooses charities as the recipients of the $1 donation for each Q ribbon, and there are two charities at each trial to choose from.

Since May 2013, we've raised more than $3,800 for a variety of charities, including the Baker Institute at Cornell, Guiding Eyes, K9s for Warriors, Agility Angels, HEART Animal Rescue in Hamburg, and many more.

Our club has had a GREAT response to this idea and many of the judges at our trials were very impressed - some even donated to the charities as well!

HABOC is very proud of the many donations to the various charities we have helped.  We continue to strive to help our communities and pets in need.
