The French Bulldog is the most popular dog breed in New York City for 2015, according to AKC registration data. While the family-friendly Labrador Retriever is the most popular breed in the United States, the adaptable French Bulldog holds the No. 1 spot in the nation's largest city.

However, the Frenchie isn't top dog in every neighborhood. French Bulldogs are the most popular breed in Murray Hill, Washington Heights, Chelsea, the Financial District, and Park Slope (Brooklyn). Bulldogs are the most popular in Tribeca, the East Village, and Astoria (Queens). Labrador Retrievers are the most popular on the Upper West Side, while Cavalier King Charles Spaniels hold the No. 1 spot on the Upper East Side. German Shepherds are most popular in New Dorp (Staten Island) and Havanese are the most popular in Riverside (The Bronx).
