Dramatic Video Shows Police Officer Carrying Dog Away From Fire

A police officer was caught on video saving a dog from a fire and carrying the animal to safety. The video was posted on YouTube by the Policía Federal de Mexico about two weeks ago with the caption “Al realizar nuestra labor nos enfrentamos a distintos retos, siempre orientados a proteger la vida,” loosely translated to “In performing our work we face different challenges, always focused on protecting life."

CNN Español covered the video, stating that the dog’s name is Lulu.

Stories of firefighters and police risking their lives to save animals are frequent but nonetheless inspiring. Recently, a photo of a firefighter holding an oxygen mask to a dog’s face after rescuing him from a burning home went viral. And another fire unit used a helmet cam to capture video of the first responders walking through a blaze to rescue a dog.
