In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Canaan Dog Club of America, Inc (CDCA, Inc.) and their 45th National Specialty and Annual Meetings, members of the CDCA, Inc. raised enough money to outfit the Golder Ranch Fire Department with EIGHT sets of Pet Oxygen Masks. This was the fifth annual donation to support Fire Departments and/or first responders in the cities where the club holds their Annual Meetings and brings the total number of pet oxygen mask kits donated to 30. Captain Seegmiller, Engineer Schulzkump, Firefighter Foster and Firefighter Schaefer came to the Naranja Park in Oro Valley AZ, the Canyons Cluster show site, on November 8th to accept the donation. The donation of the Pet Oxygen Mask kits means that all eight Golder Ranch Fire Department stations will be outfitted with a pet oxygen mask kit, enabling them to provide better care to the community.

According to Wag’N Enterprises, LLC who produces the oxygen mask kits, “far too many pets die each year of smoke asphyxiation…. While firemen attempt to get pets safely out of burning structures, they are not able to revive them unless they have the proper equipment — pet oxygen masks. These specially-designed animal masks can be used both on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to the dangerous toxic fumes.” Each kit allows rescue workers to help animals as small as birds and pockets pets up to large dogs.

The Canaan Dog Club of America, Inc. (CDCA, Inc.) is the American Kennel Club’s parent club for the Canaan Dog breed. Canaan Dogs are one of the most ancient breeds in the world but are still relatively unknown in the United States. Canaan Dogs are herding and flock sentry dogs originating in the “Land of Canaan” (now Israel). For more information, please visit the CDCA, Inc. at www.CDCA.org.
