You Won’t Believe What Firefighters Had to Do to Save This Dog

Even for a team of tough professionals who battle flames, this was a “ruff” rescue. That perennial grooming ordeal of bath time turned into a nightmare for one little California canine after he accidently stuck his paw down the drain of the tub. His owners could not free him, so they called the Costa Mesa Fire Department for help.

Writes Jeremiah Dobruck in the Daily Pilot: “When emergency crews arrived around 12:45 p.m. they too were stumped at first. ‘The dog would bark and bite very time we tried to move it just from pain,’ Capt. Nick Cerciello said.”

It took more than half an hour for the three firefighters working with a sledgehammer and chisel to liberate the dog from the drain.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Costa Mesa Fire Department quipped, “Sometimes it can be a ruff job.
