Wrangler knows he’s not allowed to jump on the bed. So Dennis Stoneman, the owner of the six-year-old Basset Hound, became annoyed when his dog leapt onto the edge of his bed several times around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning, scratching his arm during his last leap.
But when Stoneman sat up, he was grateful for his dog’s disobedience. Wrangler had been trying to tell him something.
“I heard crackling and popping in the attic and knew with him acting the way he was and the sound, something definitely wasn’t right,” Stoneman told KFOR.
An electrical fire had broken out in the home and spread to block the front door. Because of the warning, Stoneman was able to wake his family so that they could escape through the back door unharmed.
